CALTY Design Research, Inc.

Have you ever wondered about the process of how a new Toyota vehicle is made? Well, here’s your chance! Toyota recently released a behind-the-scenes look at how a new concept goes from an idea, to clay model, to pre-production at their CALTY facilities. There are three California Toyota (CALTY) locations: Newport Beach, CA, San Francisco, CA, and Ann Arbor, Michigan, and each location works on something slightly different. The Newport Beach location is a studio and breeding ground for experimental concept cars. The San Francisco office works closely with Silicon Valley to explore emerging technologies and acts as an innovation hub for Toyota. Finally, Ann Arbor deals with production models you see on the road like the Siena and Avalon. For a detailed look at the locations and processes of CALTY, watch the video above. Toyota 4Runner Gets New Trims

“The 4Runner has a large and loyal following, with dependability being a key factor. Of all the 4Runners purchased in the last ten years, 90 percent are still on the road,” said John Myers, national manager, trucks and SUVs, Toyota Vehicle Marketing and Communications. “4Runner owners often take their SUVs off the beaten path, so these new TRD Off-Road grades will be a popular recognition of TRD’s history in the off-road arena.” Introduced in 1984, the 4Runner SUV has been a popular model for Toyota and now it will be combined with Toyota Racing Development technology and features for more power and versatility. Some of the features you’ll see on these new trims are the Multi-Terrain Select System, Toyota’s Crawl Control, high ground clearance, and available suspension upgrades. The new additions to the 2017 4Runner lineup are the TRD Off-Road and the TRD Off-Road Premium. Both will be perfect for our adventurous customers to take on some of the more challenging trails in the Adirondacks.
