Dear Dad, Thank You For Teaching Me How To Change A Tire

Dear Dad, Thank You For Teaching Me How To Change A Tire Dear Dad, It’s been awhile since I’ve reached out so I wanted to get you caught up on my life and I figured having this in writing was worth more than a text huh old man? Work is great- love the weekends off and being able to travel around and see new places, new adventures, new lifestyle. The commute is long, however, and sure tried learning the backroads, but I am thankful that my Honda can handle all road conditions. Lately, it’s been rainy here, so the roads can be slippery, but luckily coming from a place that snows even in May, I think I can handle rain. more One thing did happen that gave me a mini panic attack until I realize that I knew exactly how to handle the situation. Remember when you made me pull over while still teaching me how to parallel park? You said, “Pretend your tire is flat, what are you going to do?” Although my answer was “Call you, dad”, your serious face told me, I can’t always run to you. That day I thought I’d never need to use those skills again, or at least I prayed I didn’t because I was half paying attention and half ready to get back home. It was one of those nights where I stayed a little later at work and driving home was just another hassle, but I realized something was off with my car. That light that you told me meant something was wrong with my car came on, (Yes dad, I still don’t know what it’s called), I pulled over and turned on my hazards to warn other people that I was stopped. Also, thank you for telling me to always keep a spare in my trunk! With the spare tire, I also had a car jack and lug wrench. I removed the tire by loosening up the lug nuts. Jacking up the car was a tad bit tricky but I did get it and removed the tire. I put the spare tire in its’ place and got the car back on the ground. I then tightened the tire and BOOM! I was off the side of the road in a good twenty minutes- not bad for not knowing what I was doing back when you were teaching me huh? I figured you’d get a good laugh in. I didn’t want to call and get you all nervous so I stepped my game up! I also read this article once that gave me details on what I needed, call it cheating, I call it, I almost got stuck on the side of the road. Anyways, I wanted to give you another thing to be proud of! I actually listen to what you teach me, go figure! I hope you are having a great night and no It was one of those nights where I stayed a little later at work and driving home was just another hassle, but I realized something was off with my car. Get Your Head in the Car Jake!

Get Your Head in the Car Jake! Let’s be honest, we’ve all driven with our pets in the car at least once and it is not easy or as fun as the movies make it seem. Shifting, moving, running in between seats, barking at the other pets that are pulled over in the vehicle next to you, etc. That cute furry face can be a pain in the butt. While driving, it is a necessity to be paying attention to the road, your surroundings, and the people around you. Well, you are probably wondering how you do that with your dog constantly wanting to stick their heads out the window no matter how fast you’re going, the weather, or if you think they are about to fly out of your passenger window! I can say this, screaming won't help your case. They think that you are playing therefore, you will get them more excited...and it’s very cute when they are excited but it will be dangerous in the moving vehicle. With limited space in a vehicle, it is difficult to get them to sit, but it can be done! more A couple of things can be done for this issue! A dog seatbelt: Although they might fight the restraint, it will keep them buckled in and sitting while you drive. A dog seat chair: Like a seatbelt, this chair fits in any seat of any vehicle and buckles to hold the chair in place in they decide to try and escape. Harness: While your dog wears a harness, you can attach the vehicle seat belt so your dog is safe and secured while you drive. This works especially well in the backseat of your vehicle. A Pet Travel Barrier: This is primarily if your pet loves to get in the front seat while you are driving, this is what blocks the front of the vehicle so your pet is seated in the back. Windows midway down: Keeping your windows midway up keeps your dog inside the vehicle at all times. Dogs love, LOVE to have their heads out, feeling the wind, tongues out and all, but at the same time can be dangerous. In many situations, pets have no idea what is outside of that car, therefore if they want to jump, they will. These are just a few ways to keep your pets in the vehicle while you are driving. It is not only dangerous for you while you are trying to keep your eyes on the road, but also dangerous for your pets! They should be seated at all times. An accident can never be predicted therefore, it is for their safety that you take precautions. Keeping our pets safe should be a big priority when letting them tag along on your errands or just a trip down the road. Your Furry Friend Will Love this Car...

Do You Clean Your Car in the Winter?

If you’ve experienced a winter in Plattsburgh, NY; Burlington, St. Albans, VT; Lake Placid, or Malone, NY, you know how difficult it is to keep your vehicle clean. Between road salt and dirty snow, it seems like your ride is always sporting a “winter coat” from December to March. Not only does winter debris look bad, it can cause serious damage to your vehicle. Road salt, dirt, snow, and moisture can cause rusting and deterioration on the exterior of your vehicle. If you want to keep your vehicle looking and feeling like new, DELLA Toyota in Plattsburgh has four tips below. Winterize with Wax - Winterizing your vehicle may be as easy as adding a coat of wax to the exterior. This will add an extra layer of protection between your ride and the road junk. You Missed a Spot - Behind the front grille, quarter panels, and wheels are generally where road salt tends to collect, making it extra susceptible to rust. Pay special attention to these areas while cleaning your vehicle! Wash It Down - It may seem counterintuitive to wash down your vehicle in the winter, but trust us, it’s worth it! Whether you choose to wash by hand, with a power washer, or at an automatic car wash, we recommend doing it as often as every other week. Be weary of the temperature, though. Avoid washing your vehicle if the temperature is below freezing. You’ll be driving around in a popsicle before you know it! Switch It Up - The interior of your vehicle needs protection from winter conditions too. We recommend investing in some custom fitted rubber mats to protect your floors from the snow, salt, and mud your boots will undoubtedly drag into the cabin. If you’re looking to cut down your ice-scraping time in the morning (and who isn’t?), we suggest draining your windshield wiper fluid and replacing it with de-icing fluid. If you have any questions, feel free to schedule an appointment or stop by our Service Department! We’ll be happy to help. Woo, Kevin. "Why Washing Your Car in Winter Is Important."
