Toyota Donates $1 Million To STEM Program
If you have or know a young person in school, you’ve probably heard of the focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in schools. This effort, known as STEM, is particularly important to the auto industry because, without those four subjects, there won’t be any advancements in the vehicles we drive, how they are made, or the infrastructure they drive on.
Recently, there has been a cause for concern that the auto industry isn’t making the advancements it should be capable of making at this point in our history. To help preemptively fight this trend, Toyota is investing another one million dollars in the STEM program, this time in the form of a grant to Georgetown College. This amount is in addition to the 1.5 million that Toyota has already donated to the college, and it will directly support education programs for those who intend to become teachers in the STEM fields.
“At Toyota, we believe investing in education is an investment in our future, for our community and our company,” said Wil James, president of TMMK. “Partnering with institutions like Georgetown College to advance STEM opportunities won’t just have an impact on how we make cars in the future; we believe it will help shape the future of mobility for our society.”
So not only is this gift helping current students and teachers, it will also help the teachers and students of the future. Way to go Toyota!

RAV4 Proves to be More Than Just a Family SUV
Think the Toyota RAV4 is just a quaint, compact SUV, perfect for families on the go? Think again! Recently, well-known speed demon Ryan Millen took his RAV4 SE to the Oregon Trail Rally in Portland, OR and won. Thanks to the scrappy vehicle Millen and his team were able to fight tooth and nail over the three-day rally to come out on top.
“The big open class boys were pulling out boulders,” remembered Millen. “There was no way to dodge them all. We bent a wheel, but overall in those rough terrain sections, the RAV was great. It has so much wheel travel; we don’t have to slow down as much as some of the other cars.”
On day one, Millen and felt things out, keeping a slow and steady pace to get a feel for the vehicle and the terrain. There was a bit of trouble when a shock failed on day two, but crew chief, Brian Hoeppner, didn’t allow that to hinder them too long. In the end, the RAV4 left the leader in the dust by a mere 10 seconds taking home the win. Now, the team is preparing for the Olympus rally on May, 14 which is the next stop on the Rally America series.

Toyota Breaks World Record With Prius Parade
A new Guinness World Record™ was set by Toyota Motor Company for having the most vehicles in a hybrid parade. The parade took place at the Alameda Air Field where there were a total of 332 Prius owners in attendance to participate in the parade and help break the record.
“The Bay Area is home to hundreds of thousands of proud Prius owners, and we wanted to pay homage to the Prius this Earth Day,” said Pete Carey, vice president and general manager for Toyota Motor Sales. “We wanted to celebrate this revolutionary vehicle and the folks behind the wheel who’ve always been our early-adopters, thinking bigger about their carbon footprint and environmental impact.”
Currently, about 40 percent of the Prius vehicles in the country are owned by customers that live in California, with Norther California being a particularly popular Prius area.

Ryan Millen and his fiancee, Christina Fate have returned to the rally circuit for the 2016 season, following an incredibly successful inaugural season last year where they took home victories in their class in four out of five rallies. As the son of legendary Toyota driver Rod Millen, Ryan has had some pretty big shoes to fill over the years, but now he is proud to be proving himself and making a name on his own outside of his father’s legacy with his incredible Rally skills. This year, him and Christina will be hitting the trails in an all-new 2016 Toyota RAV4 SE giving them a new vehicle for a new year of adventures.
Additionally for this year, Toyota will be allowing fans to follow along with Ryan and Christina’s Rally adventures through a new video series called Ryan Millen: Life on the Edge. Series Eats Culinary Dream Date Heads Down South
Toyota and Serious Eats are back with the latest installment of the Serious Eats Culinary Dream Date series, where the two team up to send readers in six different cities on a date of a lifetime. On these dates, couples are picked up in a Toyota Sienna and whisked to a private dining experience at their city’s hottest restaurant.
This episode begins with Sissy’s Southern Kitchen head chef and owner, Lisa Garza. Lisa is driving around Dallas, Texas to prepare for the evening’s date. Sissy’s Southern Kitchen specializes in soul and comfort food, so a major part of the experience at the restaurant is that home-like feeling the atmosphere and food provides. Because Lisa is very hands-on in the preparation process, she requires a lot of hands-free features, like the voice-activation radio and hands-free trunk release. She also requires a lot of space, which the Sienna has plenty of.
Toyota then picks up couple of 23 years, Kelly and John, who are the proud owners of their own Toyota Sienna since 2008. They remark how easy it is to move, remove, and position seats and how that makes all the difference during travel and day to day.

Toyota & Serious Eats Dream Date In New York
The fourth episode of the Serious Eats Culinary Dream Date has been released and this time the episode takes place in New York, NY. The lucky couples in this episode are being treated to a night out at Hearth, a restaurant in the East Village that offers top quality dining experience with an assortment of rich foods that are sure to delight your palate. In the beginning of this episode we meet owner and head chef, Marco Canora as he travels through the city in the all-new Toyota Sienna while discussing what he loves about being a chef and the satisfaction that preparing food for others brings him.
Later in the episode, we meet the two couples, Bea and Paul, and Lydia and Michael, who are both enjoying rare nights out as they both have small children at home. After hearing a bit about each couple, we get to see part of their experience at Hearth including dining on some incredible dishes while also having some one-on-one conversation with Chef Canora about his cooking.
Toyota Releases March Sales Results
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. has announced that their March total sales have reached 189,644 vehicles, with the Toyota Camry and Toyota Corolla leading the way as the two best-sellers, reaching of 36,991 vehicles and 32,556 vehicles respectively.
“Trucks hauled the industry to see the best March in over a decade,” said Bill Fay, Toyota division group vice president and general manager. “For the Toyota division, light trucks, mostly supported by record sales of RAV4 and Highlander, posted best-ever March and first quarter sales.”
Additional March highlights include the Toyota Highlander increasing 14.6 percent to reach 14,949 vehicles, a best-ever March for the SUV. The RAV4 also had its best-ever March and best-ever first quarter, increasing 15.1 percent to reach 29,045 vehicles.
The Toyota 4Runner and Toyota Tacoma both had a successful March; the 4Runner roses 11 percent and sold 9,599 vehicles while the Tacoma rose 11.3 percent and sold 17,684 vehicles.
