Scariest Places in Plattsburgh Road Trip
With New York being one of the oldest states in the country, there is plenty of history here, as well as plenty of hauntings. This time of year is the perfect opportunity to explore some of them. Don’t worry, you won’t have to travel very far outside of Plattsburgh, NY; Burlington, St. Albans, VT; Lake Placid, and Malone, NY. So grab your New Toyota from DELLA Toyota in Plattsburgh and head out this weekend on a haunted road trip!
Your first stop is right in our backyard: SUNY Plattsburgh Macdonough Hall! This hall is reportedly extremely haunted. Residents have reported a number of incidents including hearing toilets flush and witnessing radios, lights, and fire alarms randomly turn on. People have also seen strange apparitions. Most people attribute this spiritual behavior to the fact that the hall was built on a marshland. During construction, workers found bones and a headstone of a woman who died in 1812.
The next stop on our haunted road trip is St. Albans Bay State Park. There is apparently a “phantom ship” that floats in the bay, with ghost pirates that call out to nearby fishermen. The legend goes that these pirates are attempting to capture Champ, the creature who supposedly lives in the bay.
If you’ve never visited the Gold Brook Covered Bridge, this next stop on our list is a must. Better known as “Emily’s Bridge,” this bridge was apparently the site of a suicide. Emily, who was stood up by her fiance after they planned to elope, hung herself on a rafter. There are plenty of other stories explaining how she died, including being run over by horses and knocked to the rocky banks below. Regardless of what you believe, everyone reports hearing strange noises like screams and others have even reported seeing Emily’s ghost.
You’ll probably be hungry by this point, so we suggest swinging by American Flatbread in Burlington, VT. The restaurant, which was previously called Carbus, is haunted by a former employee who shot himself in the head in the basement. Employees are told not to go down into the basement, as many have been trapped in the walk-in freezer, which mysteriously slams shut unexpectedly.
Finish up your tour-de-Halloween at the Plattsburgh Airforce Base which is home to several haunts and horrors. There have been reports of multiple spirit sightings, including ghost children, a Revolutionary War soldier seen marching back and forth, and a lady in white who haunts the woods nearby. There was also a gym that was once used as a wartime morgue. Guests have reported sounds of screams and pounding. Also, if you dare enter the basement, it’s said to be painted red for a good reason – to cover up the blood stains.

Toyota Offers Sneak Peek of Plano Campus

Last week, Toyota CEO, Jim Lentz revealed a preview of the new upcoming Toyota headquarters in Plano, Texas. The campus, which is expected to open mid-2017, will be a huge move for Toyota, who is consolidating their three headquarters for manufacturing, sales and marketing, and corporate into one state-of-the-art campus. The move is being done in order to better serve customer needs and more firmly establish Toyota’s plans for long-term growth in North America.
“Our new state-of-the-art North American headquarters is designed to stimulate ever better ways to serve our team members, customers, and community,” said Lentz. “As we get closer to completion, we look to recruit people who want to challenge what’s possible at Toyota and within the auto industry.”
What does the Plano campus consist of so far? Here are some stats.
- Over 2,000 daily workers have been pouring concrete to equal the length of 477 AT&T Stadiums
- 1,200 tons of Texas limestone. That’s enough to build 340 Texas-built Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition trucks!
- 12 acres of glass. That’s almost 50,000 2017 Tacoma truck windshields.
- Landscaping that is tolerant to droughts and uses no fertilizers, chemicals, or artificial irrigation.
- Solar panels which will produce 7.75-megawatts of electricity (the rest will be generated by Texas wind farms)
But that’s not all! Toyota plans to hire over 1,000 new employees across multiple departments.
“We will be hiring more than 1,000 new team members across numerous functions, and our hope is that they will help us in Toyota’s mission to address mobility challenges for everyone, now and in the future.”

Toyota Launches the Kirobo Mini
Anyone who drives a New Toyota from DELLA Toyota in Plattsburgh already knows that they’re more than just a car – they’re your companion on the road. That’s because Toyota is constantly trying to find new ways to bridge the gap between humans and technology. Their most recent innovation is the Kirobo Mini, and no, it’s not a car. It’s a cuddly and cute robot that’s designed to be your “communication partner” while you’re driving.
So, how does it work? It’s pretty simple. You’ll be able to connect Kirobo to a smartphone app via Bluetooth®, and a built-in camera will turn on. From the camera, Kirobo will be able to detect your facial expressions and determine emotions. It can also use information from your vehicle or home to make conversation. Once you’ve used Kirobo multiple times, it will start to remember what you like and dislikes and your previous trips together. And to top it off, it’s so tiny, it can fit in the palm of your hand! So you’ll never have to worry about making room for your perfect travel buddy.
While it doesn’t look like this friendly robot is heading to the United States anytime soon, we’re excited to see how it goes over in Japan. Keep up with our blogs for more updates on Toyota innovation.

Toyota Sells Their Five Millionth CPO Vehicle

When you purchase a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle from DELLA Toyota in Plattsburgh, you know you’re getting only the elite of pre-owned vehicles. Each Certified Pre-Owned Toyota is required to pass a rigorous 160-Point Quality Assurance Inspection and have its own CARFAX Report. Every CPO Toyota is also required to be less than six years old and have less than 85,000 miles on it.
It’s no wonder that so many people are choosing Certified Pre-Owned, and when we say “so many” we mean five million! That’s right, Toyota just announced that it has sold its five millionth certified pre-owned Toyota in the U.S. The Wenzel Family, who just purchased a 2013 Toyota Highlander, were the lucky owners. And lucky they were! Toyota decided to cover the cost of their vehicle plus donate $10,000 to the charity of their choice. And they even donated $5,000 dollars to a charity of the dealership’s choice!
“Achieving this significant milestone exemplifies not only to our CPO program’s effectiveness, but also consumer demand for the quality, dependability and long-term reliability (QDR) Toyota vehicles are known for,” said Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager, Toyota division. “Toyota continues to be an auto industry leader in QDR and resale value as evidenced by a long list of recent third-party accolades from organizations such as Consumer Reports, J.D. Power and Kelley Blue Book.”
Here’s to five million more CPOs! Come check out our Certified Pre-Owned Toyota Selection today.
